Rob Gilroy has been performing on the comedy circuit as Jerry Bucham; protest singer and freelance activist, since 2011. Jerry Bucham is a well-meaning but incredibly inept protest singer, completewith a back catalogue of god-awful songs.
Now based in Yorkshire, Rob originally started in Newcastle and, as Jerry Bucham, established himself as a popular act on the North East circuit. Rob has performed at numerous venues including; The Stand Newcastle, where he has performed a paid weekend 10 min spot, alongside Tom Stade and Martin Mor as well as the paid 15 min middle spot at Gavin Webster’s Northumbrian Assembly.He has also performed a paid weekend 10 min spot at The Secret Comedy Club (Newcastle).
The venue’s Rob has performed at include; Red Raw at The Stand Glasgow and The Frog and Bucket, in both Manchester and Preston, where he won the Beat the Frog competition. As well as this he has performed 10/15min open spots for Kill For a Seat Comedy, The Grinning Idiot, The Laughing Penguin, Comedy @ The Railway, and numerous other venues and charity nights. He has taken part in several Funhouse Comedy gong shows; and in November 2012 made it on to the line-up for their Champion’s Gong competition.
In 2012 Rob opened for Chris Ramsey, Pat Monahan and Simon Donald, as well as winning the Beat the Gong show at the Stockton Arc, for Ten Feet Tall. Also in 2012 he made it through the first round of the BBC New Comedy Awards, to the semi-finals of the Laughing Horse New Act Competition and to the Quarter Finals of The Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year Competition.
